Jack's Marathon Achievement

BBS Young Ambassador of the Year for 2010, Jack Binstead has triumphed again!
After four months out from racing and no winter training behind him, a very nervous Jack was on the start line of one of the greatest marathons in the world on Sunday 17th April. Not sure how he would get on Jack decided to give it a go and see what happened. Recovering from two major operations and a broken leg, Jack age 14 had only been back in the racing seat for three weeks. He was hoping to beat his time from last year of 16:55, Jack need not have worried - he completed the race in 1st place and crossed the line in just 14 minutes 16 seconds. WELL DONE !
Jack is pictured here being presented his winners medal and trophy by Virgin’s Richard Branson.
Jack recently changed racing clubs and coach, this combination and Jack’s determination to succeed will be changing his life very soon. He now is coached by the leading British coach and trains with the like of David Weir (world No 1) and the British Juniors. He has set his targets high now and has told his coach “he wants to be a world Junior by this time next year”. His coach replied “he can achieve that if he puts the effort in”. Jack being Jack has thrown himself into his sport and his family are he sure will achieve his goal.
Jack’s racing calendar is filling up fast with his next race taking place on 1st May at Stoke Mandeville.
