Brittle Bone Society (BBS) hosted a spooktacular Halloween-themed family fun day, on the 4th of November 2023 in conjunction with the Metabolic Team from Manchester Childrens Hospital. With an informal and lively atmosphere, this special day brought together families, friends, and supporters for a great day of fun.
The event featured a range of spooky activities. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed creepy cake decorating, ghoulish glitter art, spine-tingling slime making, and thrilling games like a mummy-wrapping contest. Participants of all ages embraced the Halloween spirit, dressing up in their most creative and spooky costumes. We also had a visit from Louby Lou to entertain the kids!
Informative talks from the BBS Support Development Officer, Coreen and Prof. Padidela, paediatric endocrinologist from Manchester Childrens hospital were also a highlight of the event, shedding light on Osteogenesis Imperfecta and the work of the Brittle Bone Society (BBS). These sessions provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the challenges faced by those with the condition and the support provided by the charity.
Our Freaky Family Fun Day was a perfect blend of spooky fun, laughter, and a deepened understanding of OI.
Parents told us how beneficial it was to be able to speak to hospital staff in a different environment, and how lovely it was for their child to meet others with the condition.
