Lay Member Recruitment for the Technology Appraisal Committee

back

BBS were informed 13th February 2025 about a vacancy for a standing lay member role on the technology appraisal committee which looks at medicines and technologies (Technology Appraisals) being assessed by NICE. The committees will be making decisions around which medicines work well enough, and offer value, for use in the NHS? Importantly, the standing lay member role is to consider what matters most to people and their families/carers when NICE assesses a new medicine or technology.

You can find further information about the role and how to apply from the following link: NICE committee vacancies for patients, service users, carers and lay people | NICE

The committees meet, mostly virtually, every month to assess the benefits, evidence and effectiveness of medicines. Members of the committees are able to claim attendance expenses to honour the time spent preparing for and attending meetings. The vacancy is open until midnight on Wednesday 26 February 2025. The standing lay member role appoints people to the committee for an initial tenure of 3 years. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to be part of a committee discussing important and varying topics.

Please contact pip@nice.org.uk if you have any queries about this or would like a conversation about the roles. The application is done through an online recruitment system, and we can offer support with this.
